Who is MPI?
Meeting professionals know that a great meeting can change the world and WEC provides the inspiration that will propel attendees to make the changes they need to be successful in their world. Meeting Professionals International (MPI) is the largest and most vibrant global meeting and event industry association. The organization provides innovative and relevant education, networking opportunities and business exchanges, and acts as a prominent voice for the promotion and growth of the industry. MPI membership is comprised of approximately 18,500 members belonging to 70 chapters and clubs worldwide. At its core, MPI is an association made up of meeting and event professionals who are passionate about the success of the meeting and event industry. These professionals have contributed to the emergence of the meeting and event industry and propelled the perception of the industry from relative obscurity to economic powerhouse. The United States Economic Significance Study (USESS) reveals two important statistics about the meeting and event industry: 1. The meeting and event industry contributes more than $280B in direct spend to the US economy. 2. The meeting and event industry employs nearly 1.8M people. To put that in perspective, our industry hires more people than the auto manufacturing sector, and contributes more to the GDP than other US industries such as the motion picture/sound recording industries, information/data processing services and air transportation. The mission of MPI is to support these professionals throughout their career by providing members, chapters and the global meeting and event community with innovative and relevant education, networking opportunities and business exchanges, and to act as a prominent voice for the promotion and growth of the industry.
